Vespers service

In this time of gathering darkness and introspection, United will offer two evening Vespers services where you might spend some time tending to your soul. Vespers will be offered at 6 p.m. on two Wednesdays, December 7 and 21. Each service will offer words of reflection and poetry, as well as time for quiet.

Strange Brew - Roots Coffee Bar and Cafe

November’s launch of “Strange Brew,” a slightly different spin on the former “Soul Matters” groups, was a great success. We will continue this discussion in December over coffee at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at Roots Coffee Bar and Cafe, 363 W Main St., downtown Waukesha.

PLEASE NOTE: The coffee location has changed from last month because “Steaming Cup” is very crowded at that time of day.

The topic of conversation will be drawn from the Soul Matters materials distributed at the beginning of the month, -- December’s theme is “Presence” -- but there is no need for “homework.” Come as you are, with whatever you have, and that will be more than enough.

"All the World for a Slice of Pie"

Thanksgiving is a time of celebration, of family of gratefulness. It's also a uniquely American holiday, with lots of mixed messages, especially for indigenous peoples. There is sweetness in thanksgiving, and some bitterness. Come consider how food connects us.

Threads United

Threads United is a group which was formed by the Social Action Committee.  The goal of our group is not only to create quilts and any type of stitched items to be donated to children in need, but equally important and rewarding is to create a bond between our members.

We meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month, including the summer, at Marcia Romashko's home from 9:30 a.m. to about 2:30 p.m. with a break for lunch.

Threads is a very relaxed group, so you don't have to know how to quilt or stitch because everyone is willing to help you learn.......just come join us!  For more information, please feel free to contact Marcia at 262-968-4636 or owasseh@yahoo.com.

"A Beautiful City"

The title of this service comes directly from the anthem the choir has been rehearsing "We can build a beautiful city. Yes we can. Yes we can." Not a city in some other world yet to come, but a beautiful city, right here on this planet, in this land. On the Sunday before the election, let our message be one of hope
